The Writer's Handbook: Conducting Peer Reviews Original post: Sun 10/30/2016 at 10:06 PM

Knowing what to look for during a peer review is essential in how effective your peer review is.  It is very important to find the purpose of the paper and to see if the writer does a good job at expressing that purpose.  It is also important to be as specific as possible when critiquing and not generalize.  You should make sure the paper flows well, make sure main topics are addressed, and be honest while also being polite.

do you think that there should be an extent to the amount of honesty you use. What if during a peer review you completely disagree with the core ideas and points or even the topic of the paper? Should you be fully honest while remaining polite, or only help them improve what they have?
