The Call of Leadership Original post: Sun 11/6/2016 at 11:05 PM

I think that this article uses a lot of helpful quotes to help us understand what a leader is and how important it is. I also like how it talks about a self-actualized person has risen above his or her owns needs. I think that this is something very important in life to understand really just how small we are by ourselves but big together.

Respectfully disagreeing, here. I thought the article wasn't that great, honestly. And I dunno, probably had a lot to do with all the quotes and then the entirety of the format. Reminded me of the Dan from the personal growth/accountability articles. I do like, though, how you said the bit about realizing small and almost insignificant just one human is compared to a banded race working together (the general public, I guess, would be more appropriate use of terminology).

I like the comment you put in about how "a self-actualized person has risen above his or her own needs." I believe this is the key difference between leadership and servant leadership. A leader is simply someone who influences a group of followers to act in some way. A leader does not necessarily have their followers interests at heart. However, a servant leader is someone who looks past their own needs and focuses on what their followers needs are.

I think what you are saying about rising above ones own needs is important for a leader. it something you first have to consider as a leader.
