Having skills that work across a wide range of fields is something employers look for today. Several employers are more concerned about being able to think critically, solve problems, and having good communications skills than they are with what major the candidate has. Most companies will teach the employees everything they need to know in order to do the job, so they want people who possess these skills along with others, rather than someone who just has a good major.

The importance of a major has become significantly lower, than having the skills needed to do the job set before the individual. Its fine if someone has a specific major, but without the skills to think critically, solve problems, or have good communication skills, then the major becomes useless for the employers.
