Benefits of Service-Learning Original post: Sat 11/5/2016 at 6:09 PM

I really like how this article broke everything down. I normally would have thought that just students and the community would just get benefits from it but I like that this article also showed what the faculty gets out of it as well. I agree that student benefit academically, professionally and personally. The community always benefits from any help they get as well. Everyone benefits from the new relationships they make as well.

I agree many times we think only accomplishments lead us to obtaining the job were attempting to get but many times employers want to see what is different about you. Explaining to them about service opportunities you contributed to can definitely help you stand out. Ultimately being able to network and form contacts through service could be the slight difference between you and another candidate for the job.

I agree with you comment about building relationships. This article really showed how interconnected service can make community, whether it be a school community or a town. I think that much of the article could be applicable to our own lives. by "breaking things down" as you mentioned it makes the topic digestible and easier to understand.

I agree that breaking it down makes it much easier to understand.  By listing the different benefit aspects out by students, faculty, and community, you can really see how service-learning can positively affect those three groups in a variety of ways.  Everyone benefits from each other and helps each other grow individually and as a community.

I agree. Service learning can positively affect a lot of people including yourself. It is always a way to meet new people and get you name out there in a positive way to those in your community.
